A scope of work (SOW) is a document outlining the expectations, deliverables, and responsibilities of a project or service between two parties.

It is an important part of any project or service contract, as it helps to ensure that both parties understand what needs to be done, when it needs to be done and how much it will cost. A scope of work document typically includes an overview of the project or service, details about what is included in the scope, timelines for completion and any assumptions made by either party.

For example, a software development company might provide a scope of work outlining exactly which features need to be developed and delivered by a certain date in order for them to complete their end of the contract.

This can help ensure that all parties involved in the project have agreement on what is expected and how much time should be allowed for each task. Scope of work documents are also useful for keeping track of deadlines and costs associated with a particular project or service.
